Personally, I would never use dental amalgam for anything.
This is certainly a step in the right direction, but we’ve got a long road ahead.
Topic of the day: #Amalgam
Mercury amalgams, also known as silver fillings, have been widely used in dentistry for decades. However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential risks associated with the presence of mercury in the mouth. While the scientific community continues to debate this issue, here are some points to consider:
- Mercury vapor release: Amalgam fillings can release small amounts of mercury vapor over time, particularly when chewing or brushing. High levels of exposure to mercury vapor have been linked to potential neurological and kidney effects.
- Allergic reactions: Some individuals may develop allergic reactions to the metals present in amalgam fillings, including mercury, silver, tin, and copper. Symptoms may include oral discomfort, skin rashes, or more severe systemic reactions.
- Placement and removal concerns: The placement and removal of amalgam fillings are the most dangerous times and should be done by an expert biological dentist to minimize exposure to mercury vapor or particles. Holistic Dentists take precautions such as using high-speed suction, rubber dams, and protective masks to mitigate these risks.
- Potential impact on vulnerable populations: Certain populations, such as pregnant women, nursing infants, and individuals with kidney disorders, may be more susceptible to mercury’s potential adverse effects.
It’s worth noting that many dental associations and regulatory bodies consider amalgam fillings to be safe (yeah right!). However MERCURY is considered TOXIC, everywhere else. Do you see the Irony there? Is not safe to consume, for example in fish, but is it safe in your mouth? Read that again. Don’t be fooled and remove those amalgams as soon as possible.
