Your First Appointment

We start with the whole picture.

New patients first meet with Dr. Seth Gilson for a comprehensive examination that looks beyond individual teeth to the broader oral and whole-body picture.

The visit is designed to understand what is happening in your mouth now, how previous dental work is functioning, and how factors such as airway, nutrition, lifestyle and the oral microbiome may fit into the overall picture before a treatment plan is created.

Gums + oral health

We evaluate gum health, inflammation, signs of infection and the overall oral environment.

Teeth + restorations

We assess decay, cracks, existing fillings and crowns, remaining tooth structure and restorative longevity.

Bite + TMJ

We consider chewing comfort, bite stability, headaches, muscle tension and the jaw joints.

Airway + breathing

We look at airway-related factors, breathing patterns, sleep concerns, jaw position and oral structures that may influence function.

Oral microbiome testing

We offer oral microbiome testing during the first appointment to provide another layer of information about the microbial environment in your mouth when appropriate.

Nutrition + lifestyle

We discuss nutrition, hydration, habits, lifestyle, health history, medications and supplements when they are relevant to your oral and overall health.

A few practical details.

Payment + insurance

Unless other arrangements have been made, payment is expected in full at the visit. The practice accepts cash, checks and major credit cards, and CareCredit financing is available.

The practice does not accept insurance directly, but the team can submit claims as a courtesy so you may seek reimbursement from your plan.

Visiting from out of town?

Patients travel to the practice from across Florida, the United States and abroad.

  • The office is approximately 25 minutes south of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under typical conditions.
  • Aventura Mall is nearby.
  • There are multiple hotels across a range of price points in the area.
  • Ride-share services are readily available.
